News from our teachers
새소식
The seasons are changing here in South Africa and we are slowly but surely beginning to feel the cold of winter. This past month I’ve been trying to stay as active as possible, but since I’ve been struggling with my health a little, it has not been easy to do so. I had minor surgery in the middle of May and I am feeling better, thanks to all my students wishing me a speedy recovery.
In other news, I’m excited about my buttercup plants (also known as ranunculus) that I planted this month. The bulbs need extra care and attention so that they can bloom at the beginning of spring, which will be in September. With beautiful, brightly colored flowers, ruffled petals and straight stems, the ranunculus flower is truly a showstopper! They’re perfect for growing in the garden, then cutting and placing in vases to add color to your home. I can’t wait to show them to you later this year!
이곳 남아프리카의 계절은 변하고 있고 우리는 서서히 겨울의 추위를 느끼기 시작하고 있습니다. 지난 한 달 동안 저는 가능한 한 활동적으로 지내려고 노력했지만, 건강상의 이유로, 그렇게 하는 것이 쉽지 않았습니다. 저는 5월 중순에 수술을 받았고 모든 학생들이 제가 빨리 회복되기를 기원해 준 덕분에 빨리 좋아지고 있습니다.
또한 저는 이번 달에 심은 버터컵 식물 (일명: 라눈큘러스)에 대해 기대하고 있답니다. 이 싹들은 9월에 시작되는 봄에 꽃을 피울 수 있도록 각별한 주의가 필요합니다. 아름답고 밝은 색의 꽃들, 주름진 꽃잎들 그리고 곧은 줄기들로, 그 라눈큘러스 꽃은 진정으로 멋짐 그 자체 랍니다! 정원에서 자라고, 여러분의 집에 색을 더하기 위해 꽃병을 자르고 꽂기에 완벽합니다. 저는 올해 말에 여러분에게 그것들을 빨리 보여주고 싶습니다!
Hello Fluentella family!
This month has been great. I recently adopted a dog called Bailey. When I got him, he was recovering because he had fallen from a high building and was badly hurt. This is our third month with Bailey, and he has now fully recovered. He is 11 years old, but he loves to run and play. We always take him to the park where he loves to play. This month we decided to take him on a short hike, and he had a lot of fun. We are hoping to take him on more hikes and trips in the future. See you soon!

Here we are at the start of June, and May has been a friends and family month! So many people are coming to Madrid to visit us these days, and we haven’t stopped doing outdoor activities because of the nice weather. Mia is really lucky because she has gotten to know so many of our close friends and relatives who live far away but have loved her since the day she was born. In other news, I am really happy and proud of my corporate students who are learning so fast. We had so much fun in our lessons!
6월이 시작되고, 5월은 가정의 달이었습니다! 요즘 마드리드에는 정말 많은 사람들이 우리를 보러 오고 있고, 날씨가 좋아서 야외 활동을 멈추지 않고 있습니다. 미아는 정말 운이 좋습니다. 왜냐하면 미아는 멀리 살고 있지만 태어난 날부터 그녀를 사랑해온 우리의 가까운 친구들과 친척들을 많이 알게 되었기 때문입니다. 다른 소식은, 저는 이토록 배움의 습득이 빠른 기업 학생들이 정말 기쁘고 자랑스럽다는 것입니다. 수업이 정말 재미있답니다!
May came in punching a cold blow here in Brazil. As it starts to get colder, I transform myself into a blanket wearer, sipping on hot cocoa and watching finance documentaries. Fortunately, it was Mother’s Day and I went back to the inner city to see my family. I finally caught up with my nana, because of her age, she doesn’t know how to properly use technology. I also saw Lois, my cat, and even bought her a zebra outfit to keep her warm during the cold nights. I hope everyone enjoys the weather where they are! Tchau tchau!

“Why do we celebrate Father’s Day?
The inspiration for a day dedicated to dads goes back to the early 1900s. After her mother died during childbirth, Sonora Smart Dodd and her siblings were raised by her father, a Civil War veteran named William Smart.
To show her gratitude to her dad, Dodd initiated a day to “instill the same love and reverence for the father as is the mother’s portion,” as Dodd wrote in a 1910 newspaper article.
At her urging, the very first Father’s Day was celebrated on June 19 that same year.
