새소식

What a fun month June has been! It’s super cold here in South Africa at the moment, but that did not stop me from making the most of the month. My boyfriend and I have seen our friends, we had a family gathering to celebrate their homecoming from Rwanda, and we have now started to train to do a half marathon in October. I do not enjoy jogging in the cold and rain, but we made a commitment to become more fit and I’m ready to take on the challenge. Our dogs are going to enjoy it as well!

즐거운 6월이었습니다! 현재 이곳 남아프리카 공화국은 매우 춥지만, 저의 열정을 막지는 못했습니다. 남자친구와 저는 친구들을 만났고, 그들이 르완다에서 돌아온 것을 축하하기 위해 가족 모임을 가졌고, 이제 우리는 10월에 하프 마라톤을 하기 위해 훈련을 시작했습니다. 저는 추운 날씨와 비 오는 날에 조깅하는 것을 좋아하지 않지만, 우리는 더 건강해지기로 약속했고 저는 도전할 준비가 되었습니다. 우리 반려견들도 즐기길 바랍니다!

Hi Fluentella Family, this month has been quite interesting. We did some hiking, and then the week after that, my boyfriend and I ran a marathon with our dog. His name is Bailey, and although he’s quite old, he was able to run really fast and keep up with the other dogs. I, on the other hand, slipped and fell, breaking my leg. Sadly, I’ve had to stay home after that, so that means no more hiking for a while. At first, this was disappointing, but then I learned I could do other things at home as well. I started to learn how to knit, and I’m making a scarf at the moment. Hope to see all of you in class, and I hope you all had a lovely month! See you.

안녕하세요 Fluentella 가족여러분, 이번 달은 꽤 흥미로웠습니다. 하이킹을 좀 했고, 그러고 제 남자친구와 저는 반려견과 함께 마라톤을 뛰었습니다. 이름은 베일리이고, 나이는 꽤 많지만, 정말 빨리 달리고 다른 개들을 따라잡을 수 있었습니다. 그런데 미끄러지며 넘어져서 다리가 부러졌습니다. 안타깝게도, 그 이후로 저는 집에 있어야 했기 때문에, 한동안 등산을 하지 못하게 되었습니다. 처음에는 실망 스러웠지만, 집에서도 꽤 할 일이 있다는 것을 알게 되었습니다. 뜨개질을 배우기 시작했고, 지금은 스카프를 만들고 있습니다. 수업시간에 여러분 모두를 만나길 바라며, 여러분 모두가 즐거운 한 달을 보냈기를 바랍니다!

Summer is around the corner, so plans outdoors are the best way to enjoy the weather and fresh air. My husband is getting old this month (haha) so we will celebrate his birthday next to a beautiful lake. Mia enjoys these kinds of activities where she can be free. In other news, our corporate students are moving forward with their fluency, so I am happy because I am sure, they will exceed their own expectations.

In June I went back to my hometown for my brother`s birthday and had some of the best pizzas I ever had. I can’t wait to return and stuff my face with more pizza. A few days after that, I took the bus to Rio de Janeiro, and let me tell you, now I know why they are so happy year around. It was SOOOOOO warm in the middle of the winter, I couldn’t believe it. I decided to go to all the tourist places: Christ the Redeemer, Sugarloaf, the colorful stairs, National Parks, and many more. It was a very nice and different trip, even though I grew up In Brazil and I have family in Rio, we never did any sightseeing. It just showed me how big Brazil really is and how much more I still have to see. Unfortunately, I had to go back home to Sao Paulo and endure another cold winter. Stay safe. Tchau tchau

“Also known as the Fourth of July, Independence Day is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. It is a national holiday and is typically marked by patriotic displays and events, such as fireworks and parades.

History of Independence Day

Independence Day in the United States commemorates the country’s independence from British rule on July 4, 1776. The day marks the formation of the Declaration of Independence, a document that declared the colonies’ independence from Great Britain and outlined the principles of freedom, democracy, and the idea of self-governance that have come to be associated with the United States.

Signed by the Continental Congress, a group of representatives from the 13 colonies, on July 4, 1776, the Declaration of Independence stated that the colonies were “free and independent states” and listed a number of grievances against the British monarchy, including the lack of representation in the British government, excessive taxation, and the use of troops to enforce laws and suppress civil liberties.

The Declaration of Independence was a key moment in the American Revolution, a conflict that lasted from 1775 to 1783 and ended with the defeat of the British and the founding of the U.S. as its own nation. The Fourth of July has been celebrated as Independence Day in the United States ever since.”

July 18th is Mandela Day! / 7월 18일은 만델라의 날!
