News from our teachers
새소식
This past month has been cold, and exhausting, but also incredible. My boyfriend and I are training to complete a half marathon in October (21.1 km) and things are going well. We are not fit enough to run for long distances without walking in between, but we will get there. Our dogs are loving the fact that they can run with us 3 -4 times a week as well. Then on a personal note, I got engaged to my boyfriend this month! He created a scavenger hunt for me and at the end of it, he proposed. I absolutely love my engagement ring and we are well on our way with planning for the wedding that will take place next year, in March. I’ll keep you all updated in our lessons about how things are going with the arrangements!
지난달은 추워서 힘들었지만 굉장했습니다. 남자친구와 저는 10월에 하프 마라톤(21.1km)을 완주하기 위해 훈련 중이고 잘 진행되고 있습니다. 우리는 계속 달리는 것이 힘들어서 중간중간 걸어야 하지만, 꼭 완주 할 것입니다. 우리의 강아지들도 일주일에 3-4번 함께 달리는것을 매우 좋아합니다. 그리고 저는 남자친구와 약혼했습니다!!! 그는 저를 위해 스켄벤져 헌트(단서를 이용한 물건찾기 게임)를 계획했고 그 끝에 그는 청혼했습니다. 약혼 반지가 정말 마음에들어요. 내년 3월에 결혼식을 올릴 계획입니다. 어떻게 준비하고 있는지 수업에서 알려드릴게요!
Hello Fluentella family!
This month has been really fun and interesting! My friend from Australia came to visit South America for a few weeks. I saw her for a few days and showed her around the city, it was great to catch up with her. I’ve also decided to trek the Misti volcano with my boyfriend. It is a volcano that reaches 5822 meters above sea level. Hopefully, I’ll be able to trek it in a few months after some training.

이번 달은 정말 재미있고 흥미로웠어요! 호주에서 온 제 친구가 몇 주 동안 남미를 방문했습니다. 며칠간 그녀와 함께 했고 도시 주변을 구경 시켜주었습니다. 그녀와 함께 그간의 소식을 듣는것이 좋았습니다. 남자친구와 미스티 화산 트레킹을 하기로 했습니다. 해발 5822m에 달하는 화산입니다. 바라건대, 약간의 훈련을 마친 후 몇 달 안에 트레킹을 할 수 있길 바랍니다.
We are about to start August and I can’t wait to go on holiday with my family this time, because Mia will get to know new places and share time with new family members, which means a lot of fun! I love summer outside because it is that time of the year when we can enjoy some time off and come back fully recharged to continue doing our best daily.
곧 8월을 시작할 것이고 이번에 가족과 함께 휴가를 떠나길 바랍니다, 왜냐하면 미아는 새로운 장소들을 알게 되고 새로운 가족 구성원들과 시간을 공유할 것이고, 이것은 매우 흥미롭다는 것을 의미하기 때문이에요! 여름이 1년 중에 우리가 휴가를 즐길 수 있고, 매일매일 최선을 다하기 위해 완전히 재충전할 수 있는 때이기에 야외 시간을 좋아합니다.
July was such a monotonous month, I had a huge backlog of things that I needed to take care of, for instance: reading technical books, doing research for a research paper I am writing, and lots of studying. I also started doing something every Brazilian enjoys, watching football or soccer, depending on where you are from. It seems like this is the only topic people care about and talk about over here.
I also had the chance to go out in a different neighborhood in Sao Paulo. It was the first time I was there, and I got to see everything, from lively festivals to electrifying nightlife, the city’s celebration of music and dance was contagious. The rhythmic beats of samba and bossa nova lured me to dance along with the locals, and their infectious joy was truly incredible. I hope everyone had an amazing July. All the best and tchau tchau!
7월은 제가 해야할 일들이 엄청 많은 -기술 서적을 읽고, 내가 쓰고 있는 연구 논문을 위해 조사하고, 공부를 많이 하는 등 – 별 큰 일 없이 일상적 이었습니다. 또한 당신이 어디출신인지에 따라 축구(football)나 축구(soccer)를 보는 등 브라질 사람들이 모두 즐기는 일을 하기 시작했습니다. 사람들이 여기서 관심을 가지고 이야기하는 유일한 주제인 것 같습니다.
저는 또한 상파울루의 다른 동네로 갈 기회가 있었습니다. 그곳은 처음이었고 활기찬 축제부터 짜릿한 밤문화에 이르기까지 모든 것을 경험 할 수 있었고 도시의 음악과 춤 축제는 전염성이 강했습니다. 삼바와 보사노바의 리드미컬한 비트에 매료되어 현지인들과 함께 춤을 추었고 그들의 전염성 가득한 즐거움은 정말 대단했습니다. 모두가 멋진 7월을 보냈기를 바랍니다. 챠우 챠우!

Middle Child's Day is celebrated on August 12th / 8월 12일은 둘째아이의 날
“Middle Child’s Day, or Middle Children’s Day, gives a little well-deserved recognition to the wonderful and special middle child in the family.
For parents of three children or more, you likely know the “Middle Child Syndrome” all too well. If you grew up as a middle child with both older and younger siblings, you know the feeling a from a very personal perspective.
The first child is the first child. Beyond a doubt, the firstborn is a very special occasion. And he, or she, has all of mom and dad for a while before the second child comes along. The final child is and always will be the baby of the family.
This author knows what it’s like to be a middle child. We won’t go into a dissertation about what Middle Child Syndrome is. Rather, we will focus on one aspect. Older and younger children tend to be more outgoing, or extroverted. The middle child tends to be more introverted, quieter, and perhaps a bit of a loner.
It is very fair and fitting that we celebrate, and place into the limelight, the middle child today. Go out and enjoy this day to the fullest. Tell the world about it. Be a little outspoken, and let the world know how great it is to be the middle child. You truly are a wonderful, talented, and special person!

World Humanitarian Day is held on August 19th! / 8월 19일은 세계 인도주의의 날!

Celebrate Inventor’s Month in August / 8월은 발명가의 달 기념
“The printing press. The automobile. The internet. Electricity. Penicillin. Glasses. Sliced bread! All of these things and thousands more are inventions made by ingenious inventors that may have lived thousands or hundreds of years ago, or may even still be alive today, that we benefit from every single day.
But do we ever take the time to think about just how much out-of-the-box thinking went into inventing these things, or how brave those inventors must have been to dare to dream up and create something nobody had ever heard of before? Probably not! And that’s why Inventor’s Month was…invented!
How to Celebrate Inventor’s Month
There are a couple of great ways to celebrate Inventor’s Month. One is to think about what your own favorite inventions are, and how much you appreciate the person who came up with them. Maybe you have bad eyesight and could not live your life the way you do without your trusty contact lenses. Maybe you work long hours and your microwave is your superhero? Or maybe you’re a housewife/husband who would go crazy without that dishwasher? Whatever your personal favorite invention is, take some time to find out a little about who was behind it. If his or her invention makes your life so much better the least you could do is show the inventor some respect by finding out a bit about its history.”
