July has been a month full of adventures but also setbacks. Covid finally got me and I was sick in bed for a few weeks. However, I planned to spend some time volunteering on a farm for a non-profit organization called Home of Hope, for Mandela Day 2022, on July 18th. I did not make it there due to some car issues, but I did manage to make a donation. These amazing people not only take care of children with special needs, but they also teach them skills, like growing their own fruit and vegetables, in order to become productive and responsible members of the community. They are true superheroes!
Furthermore, my younger twin brothers and their families have decided to take on Africa this year. One of them will be moving to Rwanda for a year, the other to Malawi for a few months. I’m going to miss them terribly, especially my nieces and nephew, but I can’t wait to visit them there, since I haven’t been abroad for quite a long time!

Hey there Fluentella family, how are you all doing? How has your July been? I hope itβs been great. Mine has been spent mostly in the beautiful country of Bosnia and I have really enjoyed learning all about its history and experiencing its multicultural heritage. Looking forward to visiting more countries here in the Balkans over the next few weeks. Sending lots of positivity your way for the month of August.

Can summer last forever, please? July hasnβt been too eventful but Iβm not complaining! Iβm enjoying the time I have to read some great novels and soak up the sun. This month I have taught students who live in Japan, Korea, Spain, and Saudi Arabia. I learn so much about different cultures from my students and hope to visit all of these countries in the future. In Greece where I live currently, we celebrate Name Days which are even more important than birthdays. Nearly every day of the year is dedicated to a particular saint so, if youβre named after a saint, you are celebrated that day too! I had my Name Day this month and felt very special to receive so many phone calls from my Greek friends and family.

Hello Fluentella family!
I hope youβve been having an amazing month. Iβve had a great time with my family this month. It was my sisterβs birthday so I decided to bake her a chocolate cake. Iβve also been learning to cook new Peruvian dishes with my boyfriend. Food in South America is delicious! I hope you get to try it one day.
Iβve also been planning a trip to Iquitos (the Peruvian jungle) so Iβm looking into all the fun things I can do there. Hope I can tell you more about it next month.

This month is the busiest month for me because it is now the summer vacation for Chinese schools. My Chinese students have more spare time to learn and strengthen their English skills.
In addition, I’m about to reach the 6-month milestone of my pregnancy, and my stomach is getting bigger and bigger. Next week I will be able to see his face for the first time through B-ultrasound. My family and I are very excited. I am very interested in crafting these days. My mother and I crocheted a small hat and a pair of shoes for my cousin’s child as her first birthday gift.
I hope the weather will be cooler in August!

The month has flown and we have been visiting new and awesome places to enjoy our holidays with Mia. We visited Cadiz and the experience was unforgettable. Mia loves summer and swimming pools have been her favorite place to be in. We have also met with so many friends and relatives who are spending their holidays here and it has been the best plan ever because we havenβt seen each other since we moved to Spain. In other news, my Fluentella students have been doing an excellent job learning Spanish. I am so happy and proud of them.

Where did English come from? – Claire Bowern
When we talk about βEnglishβ, we often think of it as a single language. But what do the dialects spoken in dozens of countries around the world have in common with each other, or with the writings of Chaucer? Claire Bowern traces the language from the present day back to its ancient roots, showing how English has evolved through generations of speakers.

World Rock Paper Scissors Day happens on the 27th of August! μΈκ³ κ°μλ°μ보μ λ μ 8μ 27μΌ!
“Every year on August 27th, World Rock Paper Scissors Day celebrates the iconic hand game. Itβs also a day to play Rock Paper Scissors just for fun or to settle a dispute.
Rock Paper Scissors is considered the oldest hand game in the world. In fact, the game dates all the way back to the Chinese Han Dynasty. This era began in 206 BC and ended in 220 AD. There are also accounts of this game in Japanese history. The earliest versions of this game consisted of a slug, snake, and frog. Rocks, papers, and scissors were used in a later version of the game developed in the 17th century. It wasnβt until the 1920βs that the popular Asian hand game made its way to Great Britain. In 1932, an article in the New York Times described the rules of Rock Paper Scissors.
Throughout the years, many people have developed strategies to win Rock Paper Scissors. Some people who lose the first round switch to using the thing their opponent used to beat them. Others lean on statistics to help them win. These people throw each thing one-third of the time.
Here are the exact statistics for how often each thing is played:
- Rock β 35.4 percent
- Paper β 35.0 percent
- Scissors β 29.6 percent
A few of the objects have been tied to cultural stereotypes. For example, aggressive or angry people will most likely play the rock. If youβre playing against an aggressive person, playing paper gives you a better shot at winning. Women are most likely to throw scissors and men throw rocks more often.” read more at https://nationaldaycalendar.com/world-rock-paper-scissors-day-august-27/

August is American Adventures Month! 8μμ λ―Έκ΅ λͺ¨νμ λ¬!
People in the USA celebrate American Adventures Month throughout August. “As we spend more and more time indoors, we tend to forget how good being outside feels. Being cooped up in our homes and offices means we spend less time in nature or participating in outdoor activities. American Adventures Month encourages Americans to do something daring and adventurous, that they otherwise would not. Along with being adventurous, the month also encourages traveling to understand different ways of living and to appreciate the deep bond that humans share with nature. The ultimate aim of American Adventures Month is to promote a holistic lifestyle.”Β read more about this month here: https://nationaltoday.com/american-adventures-month/
