새소식
On the 10th of August, the newest member of my family was born. His name is Jean-Luc, the son of one of my twin brothers. He and his mommy are both healthy and doing well, I can’t wait to spend more time with Jean-Luc and watch him become older! On a sad note, my sister, her husband, and their three dogs have moved to a neighboring country, Namibia. That means we will not be able to see them as often as we’d like, but I know this new challenge will be good for them. I miss them already.
My fiance and I completed our first 10 KM race at the end of August. It was tough but it is preparing us for our first half marathon in November. I’m looking forward to warmer weather and enjoying the sunshine while we run. I don’t enjoy training in the winter, but it needs to be done in order to get fit for summer.
8월 10일, 우리 가족의 새로운 식구가 태어났습니다. 그의 이름은 Jean-Luc이고, 저의 쌍둥이 형제의 아들입니다. 아기와 엄마는 모두 건강하게 잘 지내고 있습니다. Jean-Luc과 많은 시간을 보내고 커가는 모습을 보고 싶습니다! 안타깝게도 제 여동생과 제부, 그리고 그들의 개 세 마리가 이웃 나라인 나미비아로 이주했습니다. 우리가 원하는 만큼 자주 그들을 볼 수 없다는 뜻이지만, 새로운 도전이 그들에게 펼쳐질 것을 알고 있습니다. 벌써 그리워요.
저의 약혼자와 저는 8월 말에 첫 10km 경주를 완주했습니다. 힘들었지만 11월 전반전 마라톤을 준비하고 있답니다. 날씨가 따뜻해지면 달리는 동안 햇빛을 즐길 수 있기를 기대합니다. 겨울에 훈련하는 것을 좋아하지 않지만, 건강을 위해 여름에 훈련해야는 것을 알고 있으니 열심히 해야겠습니다 .
One of the highlights of this month was spending time with my dog, Bailey. I’ve been teaching Bailey new tricks, and it’s been fun seeing him learn. I have also started reading a new book, which has become a nice way to unwind and escape into different worlds.
In August I’ve also continued with my online French classes. I’m still learning the basics but it’s been really fun and I’ve also learned a lot about learning a new language from a student’s point of view. This month has been great and hope to see you in class soon.
이번 달의 하이라이트는 저의 강아지 Bailey와 함께 시간을 보내는 것이었습니다. Bailey에게 새로운 기술을 가르쳤고 스킬이 향상되는것을 보는것이 즐거웠습니다. 또한 새로운 책읽기를 시작했는데, 그것은 긴장을 풀고 다른 세계로 도피하는 좋은 방법이 되었답니다.
8월에도 온라인 프랑스어 수업을 계속하고 있습니다. 아직 기초를 배우는 중이지만 정말 재미있고 학생의 입장에서 새로운 언어를 배우는 것에 대해서도 많은 것을 배웠습니다. 이번 달도 정말 좋았습니다. 곧 수업에서 뵙기를 바랍니다.
August was the start of a new and exciting time, as I am fortunate to have the opportunity of joining the Fluentella team as an English Teacher. I am looking forward to working here and helping students from all around the world improve their English abilities.
8월은 새롭고 흥미로운 시간의 시작이었습니다. 저는 Fluentella 팀에 영어 교사로 합류할 수 있는 기회를 얻게 된 행운을 갖게되었습니다. 저는 이곳에서 일하며 전 세계에서 온 학생들의 영어 실력을 향상시킬 수 있기를 기대하고 있습니다.
The hot weather in Madrid has been really tough in August, and going to Galicia was definitely the best idea, not only to have a break from high temperatures but also because we had so much fun. September is around the corner, and we can’t wait to visit Barcelona for the first time before the cold weather arrives, even when it is true that sunny days will last longer this year. In a nutshell, we are ready to enjoy the remaining couple of days off before continuing to teach my students, which is what I love the most to do.
8월 마드리드의 더운 날씨는 정말 힘들었습니다. 갈리시아로 가는 것은 확실히 최고의 아이디어였습니다. 고온에서 휴식을 취할 뿐만 아니라 너무 즐거웠기 때문입니다. 9월이 코앞으로 다가왔습니다. 올해는 맑은 날이 더 오래 지속될 것이 사실임에도 추운 날씨가 오기 전에 처음으로 바르셀로나를 방문하고 싶습니다. 학생들과 만나기 전에 남은 며칠의 휴가를 만끽해야 겠습니다. 이것이 제가 가장 좋아하는 일입니다.

Tuesday tip for learning English or any other language

“Practice making sounds you are not used to!”

“The English language has 44 unique sounds in it. No wonder it can take time to master them all! Target difficult phonemes, like r, l, th, or v. Depending on your native language, you might struggle to pronounce certain sounds. Many of my Asian students have difficulty properly pronouncing all the examples mentioned above. This is mainly because these sounds do not exist in their mother tongue. Their mouths are not used to forming or making these sounds, which can be frustrating. World Suicide Prevention Day happens on September 10th / 9월 10일은 전 세계 자살예방의 날
“World Suicide Prevention Day is observed on September 10 each year to promote worldwide action to prevent suicides. Various events and activities are held during this occasion to raise awareness that suicide is a major preventable cause of premature death.
What do people do?
World Suicide Prevention Day gives organizations, government agencies and individuals a chance to promote awareness about suicide, mental illnesses associated with suicide, as well as suicide prevention. Organizations such as the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) and World Health Organization (WHO) play a key role in promoting this event.
Covid-19 has affected us all in different ways and brought new or increased challenges for many. But there has also been a positive impact of new connections, often with neighbours and within communities.
